About the Ritual
Sarpa Samskara is performed for Sarpa Dosha, and at Gokarna it runs over two days. The first day carries the preliminary rites and the samskara kriya. The second is the longer of the two and includes Naga Pratishta -- the installation of the Naga shila, the carved serpent stone, which is the part of the observance most families recognise. The sankalpa is taken on your family gotra. Offerings and the prescribed mantras follow, conducted by the officiating brahmins. From the Standard tier upward, Ashlesha Bali is performed as part of the same observance. Where families attend in person, it is usual for them to take part alongside the purohits rather than watch, since Sarpa Dosha is understood to run through a lineage rather than an individual.

- •Narayana Bali, Sarpa Samskara and Ashlesha Bali include accommodation and meals for two people. Pind Daan does not.
- •Basic and Standard are non-AC double rooms. The Premium tier is air-conditioned.
- •Additional guests are ₹2,500 per two people per night in a non-AC room, or ₹5,000 in an AC room. We would rather print that here than have you discover it on arrival.

- •Your travel to Gokarna, and any donation you choose to make separately, are not part of the package price.
Questions families ask
Do we need Ashlesha Bali as well?
Not if you are booking the Standard or Premium tier here -- it is already included in both. Only the Basic tier does not carry it. We would rather tell you that here than take a second booking for something you have already paid for.
Why does it take two days?
The first day carries the preliminary rites and the samskara kriya; the second carries Naga Pratishta, the installation of the serpent stone, which is the longer part. It cannot be compressed into one day and we will not offer it as one.
Will we be asked for more money once we arrive?
No. Samagri, purohits, dakshina, and rooms and meals for two across both days are all inside the price shown here. Guests beyond the two the package covers are Rs 2,500 per two people per night non-AC or Rs 5,000 AC, and we print that in advance.
Can it be performed if we cannot travel?
Yes. The price on this page is for the rite performed on your family's behalf, and we send photographs and video afterwards. Attending in person adds Rs 2,300, which is your accommodation and meals for two.
How do we know we actually have Sarpa Dosha?
It is read from the birth chart, from the placements of Rahu and Ketu. If you have not been told by an astrologer that you carry it, tell us what brought you here and the purohit will say honestly whether this is the right observance before any payment is taken.
